A I ' Q55 ' l , 2 1' Have you ever strolled down the halls of GHS and had the cringing feeling that in each room there was a teacher? Well, you shouldn't have! They're educating citizens of the future and doing a great job of it, too. lt's merely a traditional joke to speak of the teachers as We often do, but you know as well as I that We owe them a great deal. The staff of fifty teachers works together throughout the year, and as an expert on 'dogmatics, l'd say the faculty's doctrine is beneficial to GHS in every Way. The benefits l've gained from my years at GHS are too numerous to mention but l must say that much may be accredited to the guidance of the faculty. They are always ready for consultation With students and dachshunds who are in need of advice and help in social or educational problems. Our faculty at Galesburg High School deserves the respect of all the students, and they certainly have obtained it.

DEANS MISS RVIN If I knocked on the door that said Dean of Girls, do you know what I would be doing? I'd be bruising my knuckles, that's what! lt is seldom that you find that particular door closed. Whose smiling face appears behind the desk? It's our Dean of Girls, Miss Sylvia Ryin, who for the past several years has been sitting behind that same desk, ready to help in one way or another. You know why I went through that door, don't you? I had a nasty fight with a beastly St. Bernard. This Dean of Girls is great stuff. Besides hearing about all my woes and whims, she finds time in her busy schedule to be the capable advisor of Girls' Service League. Strug- gling with their problems and encouraging the league's workers is a dog's life, if I ever saw one. Several years ago, Student Council gained Miss Ryin as a co-sponsor. She must not only work with SC but also push the other organiza- tions so that they'll keep going, too. It is not always easy for her, but it's wonderful for GHS, and we thank her sincerely. MR. GOODWIN I'll never forget the time l was sent to Mr. Goodwin. Streaky, will you please leave this room immediately? And so slowly and hesi- tantly l made the too short trip to the office. My silklike ears drooping hopelessly and feeling like a mistreated mongrel, I took a chair outside the dean's office. In front of me in big black letters were the words Dean Goodwin. My ears burn, my temperature rises, the halls echo my thoughts. Oh! why did I throw that spitball? The next chair in which I sat was facing the dean. It seemed that in a matter of seconds my terror faded. l liked him! Say, he wasn't bad at all. Mr. Goodwin has been dean of boys for four years, and each year he has sponsored the Student Council and the Boys' Forum success- fully. Sincerely interested in the work and welfare of the students, he has been a towering inspiration to them and they have come to him for help and guidance. He really deserves the respect and credit given to him by both the faculty and the students.
