MR. R. V. LINDSEY S UPERINTENDENT This is Mr. Richard V. Lindsey, our super- intendent of schools, who has been holding the leash for eleven years. Since our high school is so crowded, he has his office across the street in the public library-just a short trot from here. Mr. Lindsey frets over having so many students in the school system and over the crowded conditions. As fast as one group of seniors moves out, a larger group of first graders moves in. This causes Mr. Lindsey considerable trouble, for as it says in one's physics book, two things cannot occupy the same space at the same time. Some of his duties are planning the annual budget, determining the educational needs of the city, and working with the school board. Under his capable supervision our school system will be able to uphold its high standard of education. BOARD CF EDLICATICN As l was nosing around the library looking for The Fire Hydrant and l by A. Cocker Spaniel, l went through a door only to interrupt a meeting of the Board of Education, a seven member group to whom we owe gratitude for our well organized school system. The fact that they were work- ing so sincerely convinced me that they were not bored of education. Upon closer exam- ination of their papers I found some preliminary plans for a new high school. They told me that they hope this miraculous kennel with a campus large enough to play Capture the Feline will be in use five years from now. These members are elected by the people and each member devotes much time to improve- ment of our schools and welfare of the students. We wish to express our thanks to them. Mr. W. Moon Mr. I. Isley Mr. H. Whitman Mr. F. Moberg 'S Mr. R. Lucas Mr. C. Gittings Mr. T. Bullman Mr. C. Smith Treasurer

PRINCIPAL Here's a great man you'll all have to meet. He has been principal of GHS for many suc- cessful years. This success is due to his capable leadership and understanding. He's also chief bone-keeper and l'm told he does a capable job ot that too. Mr. Wooley holds a position of great honor, that of influencing the lives of today's youth and tomorroW's citizens. He even influences my life. Serving as a psychology teacher, he has been analyzing me and trying to discover the basis for my claustrophobia. IMy fear of being closed in by a hot-dog bun.l Along with understanding dachshunds, he also understands the present day teenager. Mr. Wooley has en- couraged the addition of many beneficial courses that prepare the student to meet the problems he must soon face. Along With duties, Mr. Wooley has many re- sponsibilities Which require able supervision. Believe me, a school of about fifty teachers, one thousand students, and one dachshund is a re- sponsibility! His friendly smile, warm per- sonality, and democratic ideals are familiar to everyone. OFFICE STAFF MRS. PAULINE WERNEFI Mrs. Pauline Werner has often called us to the office to check on an attendance slip that turned up from nowhere. Attendance is her task. MRS. DONALDSON Mrs. Donaldson has the corn- plicated task of keeping the students' records in order. Her job in the office keeps her very busy. MRS. ELSIE PATANELLA Mrs. Elsie Patanella is a fa- miliar sight runninq to and from Mr. Wooley's office. Serv- ing as his private secretary, she is kept quite busy.
