TO THE SENIORS: I offer my congratulations to you not as though you had completed your train- ing for life, but rather because you have lived and worked successfully to this point in your experience. We have come to understand that school is a preparation for life only as every day is a preparation for the succeeding days, and as every task prepares for each succeeding task. You who has been acquiring day by day desirable habits, attitudes, and idealsg who have made worth while contributions to the school and through it to the com- munity, who have formed inspiring friendships and developed worth while inter- ests, have measured up well in the real and only test of living. Your problems in the future and your solutions of them will not be materially different from those you have met and solved in High School. You are not facing, therefore, a commence- ment, but a continuation of living. That you will always maintain the high standard you, as a class, have thus far set for yourselves is the best wish I can possibly offer. OLIVER O. YOUNG.

Goldsmith: Deserted Village. It is a far cry from Gold- smith's village school to a high school such as we have in Gales- burg. This Reiiector chronicles the events of interest during the past school year. To the seniors it has been a year of intense activity-and yet a year of uncertainty-4uncertainty as to the future and what it may bring with it. Some will go on to other schools, some will go to work, but to all of them this last year has been full of meaning, and we hope, of real inspiration. In the years to come this book will take a new value, as those of you who are the subjects written about will look back upon these days spent in Galesburg High School with a new sense of appreciation of what school means and what it has done for you. It is our sincere hope that each and every graduate of this high school may make the most of his abilities, may prove by his Work in the world tl1e worthwhile- ness of what we are trying to do, and that he may derive a satisfaction from having been here and a regret that the time spent here was all too short.
