Jaako Kauppila, our foreign exchange student, is from Tornio, Finland. He is living with the Van Linder family in Galesburg. Jaakko ' s favorite sport is soccer which he plays here pnd in Finland, he also plays Bandy which is like football on ice in Finland. He speaks 3 languages, which include German, Swedish and English. Jaakko said that teenagers in America are more active than in Finland and T.V., is really bad here. Jaakko said “the major differ- ence between the United States and Finland is that Americans eat more junk food.”

FALL BANOUETS G—a Basketball placed 4th in the KVA with a record of 9 wins and 8 losses. Vickie Born, Karen Hermanns, and Dana Moses were captains. Vickie Born was chosen All-KVA for three years, Honorable Mention were Paula Allen, Karen Hermanns, and Kim Kolodizieizych. Vickie was Most Valuable Player and Leslie Howard was cho¬ sen Most Improved Player. This was also Vickie’s 4th year on varsity. The assistant coach was John Kolodizieiz¬ ych. ‘Tve really enjoyed working with them, l’ll be looking forward to next year.” Coach Vernon W. Cramer The football banquet was the culmination of a fantastic football season. The RAMS finished the regular sea- son with 9 and 0 win lost record, and qualified for the State play-offs. In the play-offs G-A lost to State finalist White Pigeon, 20-0. Special awards were received by: Tom Dopp and Steve Kasson for Most Valuable Player; Rich Liingston, Offensive Award; Ken Moreland, Defensive Award; Don Doorlag, Lineman Award; Denny Schug and Mark Scott both received the Coaches Aw ard; Frank Baker and Scott Wiley received the Most Improved Award.
