Take the spent catalyst along with a stream of air into a vessel where, at temperatures around H000 F, the carbon is burned off the catalyst. Take the now regenerated catalyst and con- tact a fresh quantity of charge stock. This com- pletes the cycle. The unit pictured is a large one, as the follow- ing facts will show. In less than two and one-half minutes enough gasoline is produced to fuel your car on a drive around the world. If the oil supply to the unit were to be delivered in tank cars a train TVQ miles long would be re- quired each day. However, if the fluid catalyst that circulates through the unit were being handled in railroad cars a train more than I3 miles long would iust satisfy a normal days run. Obviously these quantities can not be handled in small pipes and vessels, catalyst carrying lines are as large as 9 feet in diameter, while the vessel in which the carbon is burned from the catalyst, having a cross-sectional area of 2,450 square feet, could contain with ease an ordinary sized home. How about the air that burns the carbon? More than 2V2 times the horsepower of the huge diesel engines pulling transcontinenal streamliners is required to operate the giant blower that fur- nishes the air. The heat from burning the carbon is used to generate steam, the boiler in the system produces enough steam each day to drive a power plant supplying a city of 180,000 residents. The Sinclair Refining Company, proud of their position as leaders in the field of quality petroleum products, are iustly proud of this unit as a part of the company's modern facilities that allow this position to be maintained.
