Hayward, Archer. This organization, c mposed of pupils of high school, junior high and grade school, performed many times during the school year, at athletic events, concerts, and celebrations. Serving in the capacity of both a marching and a concert band, the group, under the direction of Vernon L. Wade, made trips to Baxter Sp ings, Weir, Clarema e, Joplin, and Pittsbu g. The first three 0 these appearances were made in marching formation and the last two were at the spring music festivals.

DRUM CORP Fifty-three members constituted this year's Girls' Drum Corps. This is one of the largest drum corps in the school system for several years. Ten new twirlers' uniforms, and ten bugles were purchased. Drums were painted and equipped with new heads. Under the able direction of Mr. Vernon Wade, music instructor, the girls participated in the Coal Festival at Pittsburg, the Armis- tice Day celebration at Iola, at the Seneca-Galena football game at Seneca and several home football games. Patty Lou Jones was the drum major.
