Wide Our High School Although Yale has always favored The violet's dark hue, And the gentle sons of Harvard To the crimson rose are true, We will own the white carnation And honor it aright, While the high school stands defender Of the navy blue and white. Through the four long years of high school Midst the scenes we love so well And the mystic charms of knowledge We vainly seek to spell, Or we win athletic victories On the football field with might, Still we stand for dear Galena, And the navy blue and white. Many improvements having been made, the school is still in use to-day. The most important addition, the auditorium-gymnasium, on the south side of the original structure, was completed in 1935. ln the spring of l937, o new rock building, the Roosevelt Grade School, was finished in Empire. ' At the present' time a grade school is under construction in Spring Grove. Plans are being made for its completion by next fall. ' Bonds were voted this year to build a large school building on a centrally located site to take the places of the Central and East Galena school buildings. This building is to have eighteen class rooms, a health service room, a kitchen, two offices, and a gymnasium-audi- torium. We are proud of the progress that our schools have made in recent years.
