The BLUE and WHITE Laugh and the world laughs with you. I stood upon a mountain, I gazed upon a plain, I saw a lot of greens That looked like waving grain. I took another look at it, Ancl thought it must be grass, When goodness, to my horror, It was the Freshman class. Senter- lafter a long winded proofl And so we find that X equals O. Sleepy-headed Freshie- Thunderl All that work for nothing. Freshie Bennett had a wad of gum That gum was white as snow And everywhere that Marjorie went That gum was sure to go. She took it to her penmanship class It was against the rule, Mr. Abbey took the gum away And chewed it after school. Before Chemistry Test Now I lay me down to rest Thinking of tomorrow's test If I should die before I wake I would not have this test to take. Mr. Troughton- A fool can ask more questions than a wise man can answer. Perry Holmes- No wonder so many of us fIunk. Mr. Abbey lin Physiology classl- Loris, can you give me on example of wasted energy? Loris Qualls- Yes, telling a hair raising story to a baldheaded man. Advice to flunking Freshmen: Eat toma- toes and ketchup. Sophomore Definitions Paraffin is the next order of angels above seraphims. An igloo is a house that Jack Frost built. A mushroom is a room for making love. A night club is the utensil a wife uses on her man. Page Twenty The Senior's Ode I think that I shall never see A grade more lovely than a B A B whose earning grade points rest, Where D and E and even less Have made us look to God all day And lift our lanky arms to pray, A grade that enables us to rate The marks we need to graduate Poems are made by fools they say But only God can make an A . Fresh. Bynum- Do they ring two bells between classes? Soph. Charles Davis- No, Frosh, they ringthe same one twice. Prayer Before History Now I set me down to study, I pray the Lord I don't go nuttyp And when at last l've learned this junk, I pray the Lord that I don't flunk. Mr. Whitehead- How is it that you are late this morning Jess? Jess Kitch- l overslept. Mr. Whitehead- What? Do you sleep at home as well? Miss Hoard- Do you like cod fish balls? Lena Bell- l don't know, I haven't at- tended any. Miss La Rue- Give me a sentence with the word viaduct. Ben Patterson- He threw o tomato at me and that was viaduct. Miss Hubbard- What is the liberty bell? Russell K.- The bell at the end of the history period. Miss Hubbard- Who discovered Amer- ica? Kelly H.- Having not studied my les- son and not knowing the answer, I hesitate to respond.
