F.F.A. IS WORK AND FUN F. F. A. - The future Farmers of America officers join officers of other schools in this area for a Leadership workshop in the fall. Learning how to be better leaders in all fields of F. F. A. is one of their main goals. A freshman is selected to compete in a creed speaking contest and an upper classman is selected to compete in an oratroy speech contest. The F. F. A. participates in several judging contests which includes the State judging Contest in Madison, the Agricultural Technology Contest in River Falls, and the Northwest Judging Contest in Eau Claire. The annual magazine sales is one of the ways to raise funds. The F. F. A. also sell Slow Moving Vehicle signs as a community service to the farmer. The National F. F. A. gives awards to the chapters involved in bettering their communities. The Gale- Ettrick- Trempealeau Chapter has been re- ceiving a superior rating. On the State level is the Wisconsin Farmer De- gree. The Wisconsin Farmer is picked from the Chapter Farmer which has progressed the most in bettering his farm. At Awards Night, we give such awards as Star Greenhand, Chapter Farmer, Top Senior, and other awards that the members have earned. The seniors take an annual trip at the end of the year as a special reward for work well done. Delegates represent our club at the state F. F.A. Convention, which is held at Green Lake, Wisconsin. During the winter months the F. F. A. has basketball games between groups of members with tournament playoffs. The fairs provide entertainment and extra cash for those that enter. We participate in the Trempealeau County Fair, the Wisconsin State Fair, and the Northwest Livestock Exposition. The state provides F. F. A. clubs with trees to start wood lots and pheasants to raise and let loose for the hunting season. W. J. D. A. - The Wisconsin junior Dairyman's Association QW. J. D. A. J is a program to promote Dairy herd testing and improvement. In 1971, the State Convention and Dairy Show were held at the Gale- Ettrick- Trempealeau High School. The first day of the convention was busy with meetings and milk testing records being checked. The night at the banquet the new officers were announced and a guest speaker gave his presentation. The sectional contest will be held here in 1972. Each year awards are given by the W. J. D. A. for completing testing as well as for other achievements. DAVE: Guaranteed to kill a cold. The W. J. D. A. is incorporated into the F. F. A. , so both are a part of the total vocational agricultural program. BELOW- ROW 1: J. Bettesworth, E. Trim, L. Stellpflug, R. Hovell, R. Anderson, S. Kopp, T.
