KEYNOTE IS L SERVICE Service is the keynote of the Library Club. Members promote reading and help fellow students use the variety of materials in our learning center. Members of the club also strive to stimulate interest in librarianship as a profession. A paper- back bookstore, staffed by the student librarians, is open daily. Each year the club sends a representative to the stunmer workshop at the University of Wisconsin, Madison campus. The group is affiliated with SLAW fStudent Librarian Association of Wisconsinj and also with the Western Wisconsin Student Librarian Association. On December 11, members attended the meeting of this group at Westby High School. During the school year student librarians held two pot-luck supper work sessions. In April, through the efforts of club members, National Library week was highly publicized in both school and community. ABOVE: LIBRARY CLUB OFFICERS: C. Hanson, R. Smith, K. Twesme, B. STUDENT COUNCIL SPONSORS CHRISTMAS BALL 1 ABOVE: President, W. Klien, Vice-President, K. Twesmeg Secretary, C. Wilber, Treasurer, D. Adams. With the increased enrollment of 500 students at Gale- Ettrick- Trempealeau this year, the Student Council voted to change the number of class representatives from three to five. Another significant change in the constitution now re- quires a fall election from among the Junior Class represen- tatives of a vice- president who will serve as president the following year. Major projects of the Student Council included the planning and supervision of Homecoming activities the third week in September and the sponsorship of a Christmas Ball on Dec- ember 11th. A well-received innovation this year was the presentation of an all-school Christmas party the last day before vacation. Representatives of various student groups provided a wide variety of entertainment, and judges awarded cash prizes to three winners. The operation of the pop machine continued to be a source of income, enabling the Council to make a sizeable contri- bution toward the purchase of the new out- door electric scoreboard for the athletic field. With a larger student body and more members, the Student Council is looking to a future of increased activity and ser- vice to the school. Much of the success of the Student Coun- cil this year can be attributed to the time and effort given by our active and interested advisor, Mr. Dave Lund. BELOW: D. Adams, R. Grant, R.
