THE KNCWLEDGE 0F DRIVING Drivers Education is actually two courses: The class- room course and the behind-the-wheel course. The classroom course is open to all sophomores and to juniors who have not had the course. For behind-the- Wheel driving one must be at least sixteen years old. Mr. Solberg's goal is to promote safety on the high- way among teenagers. RIGHT: Mr. R. Solberg GENERAL EDUCATICJN ACTIVITIES The General Education program is a work-study program designed for students with learning problems whose needs and interests cannot adequately be met by the regular curriculum. The first two years consist of practical academics. Curriculum is planned by the teacher-counselor according to students' individual needs. During the junior and senior year, the students work at jobs in the community for two hours each day. I The goal of the program is to prepare the students for I employment after graduation. I ABOVE: Mr. S. Prussing ABOVE: Mr. R.Duel1man AUTO MECHANICS AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCE COURSES OFFERED The 1971-72 school year has brought many changes to the Industrial Arts Department. This year a new Vocational Auto Mechanics course is being taught. The department also hopes to start a Graphic Arts area in the near future. A new Industrial Arts Club has been formed this year and was honored as a charter member at the W. I, E, A. State Convention in Milwaukee along with eight other schools. Gale -Ettrick-Trempealeau was recognized as having one of the outstanding Industrial Arts Programs in the state. Mr. S. Prussing and R. Duellman teach Industrial Arts. In addition to semester courses in resource conserva- tion, soil and forest conservation, agri-business I and Il, a pilot course in environmental science and conservation was offered this past summer. Mr. Hendrickson also works with students on their individual projects and supervises the activities of FFA and WJDA.
