Joe Otey prepares to cut his foot off with his mower. SUMMER ISN'T f For once, we all got out of school for summer break before summer was over. School ended May 30, and that gave us almost 21,6 months for sun and fun. To tell the truth, there wasn't a lot of hot sun. When it wasn't raining, it was too Cold, but somehow we managed to do all that was expected of us to keep up our reputations. As usual, swimming and sunbathing were major pastimes. Not all of us had a great deal of free time because of work. If we weren't bagging groceries, mowing lawns, washing cars, or hauling lumber, we were hard at work in depart- ment stores and factories. On the weekends, however, we always busted loose and Headed for the Mountains . Grandfather's, the disco located at the Midtowner became the place to spend all our big bucks . Two or three times a week we put on our boogie shoes and danced the night away. GHGZV woRLD or FAsHlo . . . But mom, I just have to have a pair of designer jeans! Everybody has a pair but me, and they're only S40 a pair. What'd ya say mom, huh? Even though Gloria Vanderbilts, Can- dies, and Calvin Kleins are the style these days, few of us are fortunate enough to pay the high prices for them, so Levi's seem to still hold the no. 1 position on the end. No one seems complete without their old faded Levi's! To match our jeans, whether they're designers or Levi's, we all collect the ever popular Alligator and Fox shirts. I mean, who's cool without their gators or foxes? Fashion is a big part of our lifestyle and everyone tries to be in style with their friends. Some of the fashions sometime seem to appear oddly matched, but these days anything seems to go. Sometimes when we get the urge to dress up in some classy fashion we find ourselves choosing from wide assort- ments of blazers, skirts, cords, etc. This year even the teachers are steppin' out and wearing high-fashion clothes! Stum- bling up the steps or falling off the heels of their Candies is occasionally seen, but we all are taking part in the Crazy World of Fashion! .
