Jr. High Cheerleaders Led by their captain, Janet Perry, the Jr. High Cheerleaders cheered at all Jr. High and Junior Varsity basketball games. Sponsored by Miss Catherine Work the Cheerleaders displayed much spirit and enthusiasm. Jr. High Choral Group 5 l Under the direction of Mr. Bill Earl, these girls from the ninth grade sang in the Christmas Glee Club concert.

Flashy blue short skirts, white pullover sweaters, batons, and high boots charac- terize our marching unit. During the Football season, the 23 girls performed for both audiences. Formed last April, the Drill Team won first prize in Falls Church, Virginia. Every year the members look forward to the big Winchester Parade. Future Teachers OF America.. Future Teachers of America prepares high school students for teaching roles after college gradua- tion. Useful experiences were gained through its many functions, such as assisting faculty mem- bers and practice teaching. Our F.T.A. attended the State Convention in Baltimore last spring, and in turn entertained the Frederick chapter. Joy Green presided over the club and Miss Marian Curling acted as faculty sponsor. Jr. High Speech Club Meeting twice a month with Mrs. Walthall as their sponsor, the junior high Speech Club has attempted to improve their public speaking. Some of the proiects were recording voices, oral reading, debates, and dramatic readings. 89
