Bmng .. . 1 Mr. Wilburn O. Echols Supedntendent Mr. Wilburn O. Echols graduated from Greenville High School and attended Paris Junior College for one and a half years. He Went to Southern Methodist University for seven semes- ters and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. In 1946 and 1947 he gained a Masters Degree in administrative education at East Texas State University. Mr. Echols attended North Texas State University and earned fifteen hours toward his terminal degree. In 1940 and 1943 he was principal and head coach at New- castle High School. After serving inthe Navy for three years, he took the post of athletic director and coach at Green- ville High School for four years. Mr. Echols was made principal of Green- ville Junior High in 1949. He then served as Superintendent of Public Schools in Olney, Texas from 1952 until 1959, and as Superintendent in Grapevine in 1959. On July 1, 1961, Mr. Echols came to Gainesville to take the position of Superintendent of Public Schools. 7

After high school he at- tended North Texas State Uni- versity Where he earned two de- grees in science, Bachelor of Sci- ence and Master of Science. Mr. Campbell served four years in the Navy during World War II. He became principal of Robert E. Lee Elementary School in 1945, and came to Gainesville High School Where he took the post of assistant coach. While at Gainesville High School he has taught American history, World history, economics, civics, biol- ogy, and driver's education. In 1956 he took the position of as- sistant principal and in 1960 became principal, a post which he has held for the past sixyears.
