To be eligible for the ARMCO award, David was required to have engineering, physics or chemistry studies in his future plans. He was selected by his ranking in college entrance examina- tions, academic and extracurricular records, personal interviews and recommendations. 29

They were in several pro- grams for local civic clubs. Pat and Janie had the ability, leadership and co-operation necessary for good speakers. They participated in the Forensic Program, placed third in their event in the San Antonio speech festival, and Won second place in the Inter scholastic League. Both entered in the one-act play contest, and Pat was chosen for the all-star cast. 28 Choral, Science and Social Studies JAY CAMPBELL Jay Campbell was chosen as the outstanding student in choral, sci- ence and social studies. He con- tributed more to the departments in his four years at GHS as Well as gaining more of an understanding for each subject. His attitude and co- operation Were also outstanding.

Sandy Ninnenger Award DAVID AITC I-IISON David Aitchison was presented the Sandy Ninnenger award. I-le was chosen by a committee of admin- istrators and Kiwanians. The com- mittee selects a senior boy or girl who has most improved himself since entering high school. Citizenship, personality and scholar ship are con- sidered in the decision, along with willingness to make personal sac- rifices for the good of the school and student body. 30 aiftgrfr' Homemaking Cl-IERIE PORTER PEGGY SMITH The Homemaking Department awarded the homemaking honors to Peggy Smith and Cherie Porter. These girls were chosen on their leadership and enthusiasm. Grades were considered, but they were not the main requirement.
