People. . . 1966-67 at GHS was a year of people-2,000 students and 95 faculty members. Many new changes were necessitated by all these people. A steadily increasing enrollment brought changes in pre- vious years, but never had they been as wide-spread and dramatic as this year. Builtin1957for1200students,the GHS plant had enlargements of the gym and cafeteria and the addition of the Teaching Auditorium to house 1600 students. But school opened in September 1966, with serious over-crowding. Classrooms, cafeteria, and parking areas were filled to over-flowing. 4- 'sf 25: ill'--1-alla. 1.-ga --L -f 1-. ..:,..,5 NJA :ME fri V , - , fflfzy 1-., Qgnillu .f F- '. p w ., ,wif I , , .,.., M 1... f ,V ' 1, 'f' , uf -..Q-.1 -we 5

lVlost drastic of the changes made to accommodate the 2,000 students was the three-shift schedule. The early shift began at 7:30, another at 8:30 and a third shift at 9:30. Classes were dismissed at 2:30, 3:30 and 4:30. Students and teachers were con- fronted vvith a maze of forms as numbers forced mechanization. At- tendance cards, schedule cards, ab- sentee slips, l.D. cards and IBM re- port cards became a way of life. Pep rallies were moved out-of- doors to the football field. Clubs, traditionally scheduled for after- noon meetings, met at night be- cause of the staggered dismissal times. 'RX .4
