Closer acquaintances with various chemical compounds, equipment, a nd procedures were formed from class periods spent in the laboratory. form a firm background for future discovery To prepare for our rapidly advancing future, GHS,s basic science program is due for a big change. New courses are slated to be added to our already fine science curriculum, and in -the year of 60-61 second year Biology, which will consist almost en- tirely of Botany, and second years of both Chem- istry and Physics will be offered. If enough students register for these courses, even more will be added. This year saw the acceleration of sciences, be- ginning with Biologyis becoming a ninth grade course. Sophomores took Chemistry, which has for- merly been a junior subject. Through these and other advances our department in basic science has shown the acceleration of education, felt all over the nation.
