Institutions, a course similar to the C-11 and C-12 Freshman course at the University, was added this year to CHS,s curriculum. By attending the Court of Records, students of this course gained a better understanding of the working mechanisms of the judiciary system. As well as viewing the law in action, they heard Iudge Adkins, the presiding court official explain the Florida court system. This trip was just one of the unique methods employed in teaching this newly instituted history course which parallels its University of Florida namesake. This course, involving intensive research and col- lateral reading, shared the upperclass social studies spotlight with Problems in American Democracy. XVorld politics and economics of modern America are the dominant factors covered by Problems, il- lustrating the new importance and emphasis placed on our relations with other countries. Even a bit of' mechanical ability is a necessity for teachers, as Mrs. Flanigan shows in running the film strip projector for her classes. ,O , '79 io o ian
