'ff N Y --had Board Strives For Improvement The major function of the Board of Education is keeping the school running smoothly so that it can retain its AA rating. As representatives of the people of the Gainesville R-V District, the board also works with the student council in establishing codes for the students to follow. The selec- tion of the members of this organization is an important one because their decisions affect Mrs. Colene Rose, high every Student. school secretary, serves as secretary of the board. l During the past year, the board received two new members. They were Richard Martin, prosecuting attorney, and jim High, a farmer.

L W ,A if 1 XM 1 X 5 '-, ,ll . in Q. .1- X N r' 1 X V, :Q Mrs. Luna instructs the students in one of her three typing classes Stella Luna Retires From Faculty Post After 37 Years At Gainesville High. She's educated a good part of two generations in Ozark County. The people who now make up the Board of Education, the administration, and faculty at GHS once sat in her classroom. And now she's teaching their children. r Stella Luna began teaching in the Isabella school in 1933. The following year Mrs. Luna and her husband Mearle got their degrees from SMS. They both came to the Gainesville school system where Mr. Luna served as superinten- dent for a number of years. Mrs. Luna taught business and English classes, sponsored the school newspaper for fifteen years, and the school yearbook for eight.
