Margarita Andrades finds Gahr very different from her school in Chile which is 160 years old and only for girls. Chilean students have to take twelve subjects which include world history, physics, biology, chemistry, civics, English, French, Spanish, and algebra. Margarita has taken English for five years and French for four, but it's been mostly grammar and not conversation. By the time she finishes high school, Margarita must know what profession she wants to study for. Because she likes children, she either wants to be an obstetrician or a pediatrician.
