Members of the Icarian Staff, and the teacher-sponsors, Miss Blake, Mr. Heyse, and Mr. Sheridan, have endeavored to identify and to record the important and memorable school happenings during 1951-52. While the howling winds outside rushed about madly, creating intricate patterns of snowflakes and icicles, more wonderful scenes were taking place in our school gyms, classrooms, laboratories and other rooms. Scenes in which students and teachers worked side by side-each doing amiably their share of the work. We, here at Gage Park High School, realize that only through education can we prevent the coming of Winter with its prejudices, wars, and hatred in our country. Only through education can Spring bloom forth over our great land with its truth, under- standing, and democracy.

Miss Frances Schaefer is our Assistant Principal. All of us at Gage Park High appreciate her understanding and industry. I She fulfills many duties, such as teacher-program adjustments, the administration of ollice tests, the interviewing of possible student failures, and the issuance of early dis- missals. At Gage Park we not only highly respect our efficient Assistant Principal, Miss Frances Schaefer , but we also know that we are very fortunate to have such a capable administrator in our school.
