In this yearbook-the 1951 Icarian-we will present for your enjoyment and appreciation an over-all picture ot our school. You will see Gage Park High School presented under many aspects and in many pictures. Our many and varied sports activities are depicted in a wealth of pictures. And so, too our academic and technical classes are shown throughout the book. Along with these our social activi- ties, such as Proms, Spring Show, Clubs, and many other items find their places ready for them in the Icarian.

jfzia .95 C598 1964144 A high school means different things to dif- ferent persons. To one it means the place xvhere football, basketball, and baseball teams find their center of interest. Another believes that it is a place in which students get ready for jobs or vocations. A third person is con- vinced that a high school exists in order to develop social competence!-ability to get along with others. Still a fourth person thinks that a high school is a place where the cultural heri- tage, scientific facts, and mechanical skills of our civilization are studied and learned. And, finally, a fifth person views a secondary school as the center in which high moral and spiritual standards are developed, expressed, and en- joyed. Gage Park High is all of these different schools in oneg for it combines each one of these aspects in one building.
