WIJJ War? Caffahan As the first assistant principal of Gage Park High School. Miss Callahan has played .1 maior role in developing the traditions of our school. Not only did she plan the so- cial calendar for the school. but she also savv the need of frequent socialized student programs. Although she recently retired. we. Gage Parkers, and all the thousands of Chicago youths who have had the privilege of having our lives touched by Miss Callahan, vvill always remember her. During her many years of service in the Chicago Public Schools. she merited respect and admiration because of her quick vvit. her insight into character. and her ability to handle student problems. Miss Schaefer. our capable acting assistant principal. spends the day solving the differ- ent problems that arise. One of the problems that she handles is the interviewing of failing students to determine how best to improve their scholastic records. Another of her duties is the administering of achievement tests to determine the placement of students. These tvvo duties plus the other innumerable services constitute a full dav's work.
