HATP I It Is Vital That | |fl I I N I Every Interested I t | Parent Be Present Essential Arrangements Regarding ★ Placement Testing ★ New Applicants ★ School Expansion ★ Bus Rates ★ Present Enrollees ★ Teacher Applications PROPERTY United Christian has made arrangements for the purchase of some thirty acres of land fronting on State Road 12 in Gadsden County, Florida, between the towns of Havana and Quincy. This land is centrally located and will require a minimum of filling or landscaping, enjoying natural land- scaping and beauty. It is anticipated that United Christian will be able to secure the thirty acres in question at a price of $500 per acre, such purchase price being paid in cash from the proceeds of the sale of these bonds or by the acceptance of part or all of the purchase price in United Christian bonds. United Christian Schools of America, Inc., hereinafter called United Christian, was incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida on September 23, 1971 for the purpose of establishing Christian Schools to provide quality Christian education for youth who seek and are qualified for such education. United Christian, as a Florida non-profit corporation, has not operated a Christian school or schools prior to this time, but the incorporators have had extensive experience in the establishment and operation of Christian schools ' 5 NORTH FLORIDA CHRISTIAN SCHOOL 3000 North Meridian Road Tallahassee, Florida 32303 October 18, 1971 Dear Friends, We know you will be interested in the progress of our new school to be started in Gadsden County. It's name will be Gadsden Christian School. It will be located on Highway 12 between Quincy and Havana, on a 30-acre tract right across from the firetower. Mr. Larry DuBose, our Elementary Supervisor, will be the Principal of this school. Under his leadership, we know Gadsden Christian School will soon be the finest educational institution in the county. It will have the same acedemic program as North Florida Christian. We expect the Gadsden Christian School will be much more conveniently located for your children to attend than our school here in Tallahassee. Consequently, we are enclosing two application forms for pre-registration for any children you may wish to send to Gadsden Christian School next September. The majority of the applications thus far are registered for kindergarten through sixth grade. It is certain that the school will go through the sixth grade. The number of additional applications will determine if it will include any higher grade this year. In either case, we do expect to add additional grades year by year as the need develops. It is very important that you register now if you wish to secure a place for your children as we can only accept 300 in the school the first year. We have had excellent response in our meetings in Quincy and Havana. Already the school is nearly half full. In two weeks we shall open the registration to families in Tallahassee who have not been able to enroll their children in a satisfactory educational institution. Enclosed you will also find a prospectus of the bond program through which we will be financing the construction of Gadsden Christian School. Only through the sale of these bonds will the construction be possible. We hope that you will wish to have a part in the program or help find others who will participate. The bond program offers the means not only for the construction of a fine school which will benefit the entire county, but will provide you with a savings program with excellent interest. We look forward to hearing from you in the near future. a. H. Pound, Jr. jy 1 Secretary-Treasurer, Gadsden Christian 6 PAGE 10 HAVANA (Florida) HERALD THURSDAY. DuBose, Pastor Gadsden Christian School Church Phon« 539-6191 Rt. 1 Box 93 Havana, Fla. 32333 A Mission of Temple Baptist Church of Tallahassee Dear friends, We are extremely pleased with the friendship and support Gadsden Christian has enjoyed in this community. Without a doubt, this is a center of local interest and support. During this past summer I became convinced that our position and future growth must be strengthened by the establishment of a local church which would support the growth and expansion of our school. Growing Federal involvement and the sale of our school in Jefferson County (Aucilla Christian) increased my concern. The benefits of a local supporting church include: Development of a local group of Christians which will accept increased responsibility for the welfare of our school; the increased community support, both financial and otherwise, resulting from the involvement of loca] people; an excellent opportunity for the school to get the use of additional buildings and facilities which the church would build and pay for;, a more secure tax-exempt status; a larger organization with a program which has a greater influence for Christ and America. An July 5th, the United Christian School Board approved the above plan. Temple Baptist Church, one of the most dynamic churches in tne South, will establish its first mission church here at out school. Sunday services will begin September 9th. You should know also that it is our desire to have an excellent re- lationship with local churches. In view of this, no student will be encouraged to attend these services by myself or any teacher unless it is known that he does not regulary attend church and Sunday School. Church information will be posted and transportation offered to in- terested children. Many of our teachers will be attending their respective churches as usual. To those of you who are interested in becoming a part of this church I extend a very sincere welcome. You may expect a Bible centered program with an emphasis on_ youth. Ilany activities are planned and a great future is expected.' 'Js£?Tsincerely, Larry A. DuBose LAD bsd THE HOUSE OF GOD. WHICH IS THE CHURCH OF THE LIVING GOD. THE PILLAR AND GROUND OF THE TRUTH. I TIM. 3:15 On September 9th, Tallavana Church held its first service with 43 present. Within a month, attendance climbed to over 100. On October 26, 1973 the church was incorporated under the laws of the State of Florida as a non-profit organization for the purpose of developing Gadsden Christian School as well as to provide a Bible centered church with an active program for the youth. In effect, Tallavana Church is the BOOSTER CLUB for Gadsden Christian School. As growth enables, it will be capable of developing a great ministry to include summer youth camps, winter retreats, Bible conferences, missionary conferences, revivals, a bus ministry, a large Sunday School, and an outstanding choir. 13 Groundbrenbin , wan observed th: Baptist Church for an auditorii immediately on the structure wl of 250 and provide restrooms ai The building will be located School which is on Highway 12 The church field is expected 1 which when completely develon Herald past Sunday at Tallavana , Construction is to borjin sh will have a seating capacity space for food service. the campus of Gadsden Christian jar the Lake Tallavana entrance, include not only Lake Tallavana, will include 700 homes, but al60 as and Highland Subdivision on 15 FACULTY AND STAFF Mr. Larry A.
