Gackle moved into the Napoleon Invitational Tournament with a A win ll loss record. In the first encounter the Orioles played Napoleon. Another thriller which went right to the end saw Gackle pull through a hard-fou ht victory by downing the Napoleon lmperials by a final read- ing of 55-SA. Gackle's sharp shooting Byron Koski was high with 27 counters. Wald had 23 for Napoleon. ' Being victorious in the first game pitted us against a tall, very gell balanced Steele team, which downed the Orioles to the tune of M-M7. Packing the suits once again we found the Orioles traveling to Fullerton for a non-conference tilt. Quarter scores were very close. The close of the 3rd quarter and most of the fourth saw Gackle move ahead by a lO-13 point margin. This did not stop the hard fighting Fullerton five for they came back strong to win a thriller 69-08. Steadily playing games out of town we followed the Gackle squad to Dawson where another ball game going right to the end saw the Daw- son cards come out victorious by a final reading of 68-6b. It seemed the Orioles formed a habit of playing close ones for we witnessed another see-saw battle at Kulm but Kulm started hitting in the final minutes of play to down the Orioles, 56-L9. The same week we once again put our shoes into traveling bags and headed for Hazelton where we found that a hard fighting Tiger team bowed to the Orioles when a couple fast buckets at the end of the game gave Gackle the victory, 67-63. NW In 'V is meg, ' M it f 1-, V 7 z' Za The Orioles had a 6-l3 record going into the District tournament at Wishek. Our first tilt put us up against a zippy, sharp shooting Strasburg team. The Clippers led the Orioles by 10 counters at the half and started hitting from outcourt in the 3rd quarter to pull away from the Orioles and go on to victory 58-45. Bowing to Strasburg found us against Linton in our second encoun- ter of the tournament. The Orioles fighting hard all the way failed to come through and Linton won the contest by defeating Gackle, 65-48.
