HF VERY It was the sixth day of September, 1950 when twenty- three freshmen entered Gackle High School. We elected the following class officers: president, Wanda Spillowayg vice- president, LaVern Schlittenhardg secretary, Florence Puperag treasurer, Norbert Kinzler. Mrs. Helen Wasch was our class advisor. During the course of the year Jean Homola, Florence Pupera, Joe Zentner, and Phyllis Kuck dropped out. The first big event in our lives as freshmen came the last part of September when the sophomores made us Wwalk the plankn. On February lb the freshmen entertained the sophomores at a sophomore return party. In our sophomore year our class enrollment was nine- teen. We opened the new school year by electing officers. They were as follows: president, Grace Naatusg vice presi- dent, Archie Kleingartnergsecretary, Evelyn Meyergtreasurer, Joan Bender, and class advisor, Mrs. Wasch. We had the privilege of initiating the freshmen on September 17, which was a great success. We all looked forward to the sophomore return party which took place February lb. The following school year opened the 2nd of September with 18 juniors enrolling. Ernest Sommerfield and Janell Sommerfeld, who is now married, quit school. Verna Roesler from Lehr, N. Dak. joined our class and during the 2nd semester, Mary Ellen Hale from Minnesota also came making 19 members of the junior class. We elected the following class officers: president, Joan Bender, vice president, Melvin Ammon, secretary, VyDell Sukog treasurer, Marvel Schlenker, and class advisor, Mrs. Wasch.
