After the formal meetings and seminars, the Furman campus came alive with intense excitement as the Paladin football team prepared to go up against the Western Carolina team. Although the Paladins did not win, It still proved to be a lot of fun for everyone. Following a disappointing game, parents and students participated in drop-ins sponsored by various groups. The drop-ins gave the parents an opportunity to get to know their student’s friends and their respe-five parents. Ray McKinney, Carolyn McKinney’s father, felt that “the best part of the day was meeting all the other parents. Because new friends were made on Saturday evening through the students, big groups of parents and students went out to dinner; for many students this was the most memorable part of the MMy favorite part - of the weekend ■ was going shopping for new winter clothes and going out for some real food!” A Special Weekend weekend. After good-byes were exchanged and plans were made for the upcoming Fall Break, parents, somewhat exhausted from the excitement of the weekend, left their children to the monotony of studying and the anticipation of approaching fall break.
