SkipWdhom The Living and Learning Center Many Furman students have participated in Furman's newest dimension of residential living: Montague Village Living and Learning Center. The main purpose of the center is to provide living and learning experiences through social, recreational and academic activities. According to Dr. Duncan McArthur, a member of the Residential Living Program residing at Montague, “The place that one lives should not be used as an escape from learning. Stu- dents must understand learning and its relationship to life. Numerous events were planned each term for the residents of Montague Village. The faculty-administration-student picnic involved a large group of people and offered a chance for everyone to meet. The student-led discussion “The Aesthetics of Rock and Roll led to weekly discussions and involved even students outside the living and learning center. Interesting talks w hich encouraged active participation were also given by faculty members. Students and faculty involved w ith Montague Village felt the programs were successful in achieving the goal of a living and learning center at Furman.
