The marshals usher at all concerts, plays, chapel services, lectures, and other college functions during the year. The Marshal Board carries out its tasks by maintaining quiet and by being of assistance to the guests in the auditorium. Six members of the Board serve as Commencement Marshals. Under the chairmanship of Janie Wood, the marshals show at all times an attitude of quiet dignity and efficiency. Social Standards Board The Social Standards Board helps to promote the high standards of social life found at the Woman’s College of Furman. The aim of this organization is to help the girls to look and act their best at all times. This is done by the use of posters, the bulletin board, and the pamphlet, Miss Suzy Zoo published each year by the Board. Under the chairmanshio of Ada Margaret Meeks, the Board sponsors frequent semi-formal dinners, come-as-you-are suppers, and traditional after-dinner coffee each Sunday.
