MANLEY PEP RALLIES . . . EXCITEMENT REEKS! Pep rallies at Manley Field . . . glorious excitement . . . bonfires . . . promises of a good football season . . . sore throats . . . hysterical cheers . . . endless veils . . . “Will the team set a new record for winning games?” . . . pep band blasts through jubilant selections . .. the crowd screams for Shelby to render a yell in his shimmy fashion . . . the team trips in from the right gate midst clammering excitement . . . coach introduces his boys . . . then, hats off, it’s Dixie” time , . . cheerleaders warble and wobble through many yells . . . same old ones, of course . , . some bright guy peeps, When will they ever find a new one? . . . after giving blood, sweat, and tears in our enthusiasm, we are called to our feet by the strains of our Alma Mater . .. slowly the fans leave Manley Field, each making his own decision concerning the outcome of the game.

DICK PATTY. iu lint for cards and vital statistics for hours . . . by the time we reach the head of the line, our stammering and stuttering overcomes us . . . naturally, the hour that one wants has just been filled AND YOUR NAME? For Crips! THREE HOURS CREDIT. ... after rearranging and changing schedules not less than fifty times, we think wc have conquered registration . . . “Oh, you dreamer!” . . . we then find out that the registrar won't allow us to take eighteen hours . . . hack to the front of the line, same old process . . . you are finally asked to remove yourself quickly from the pressing mass ... with pleasure . . . now to hunt old textbooks, rearrange lunch hours, search for new classrooms —and then forget to go to them ... a Furman student for another semester! PASS IN REVIEW.

WARM-UP. NO MERCY! RATTING . . . PLACARDS . . . FRESHMEN DEFLATED Ratting was almost entirely obsolete this year on the men’s campus ... just because the Freshman Class was almost twice as large as the Sophomore Class . . . but on the womens campus, the mighty Sophs showed no mercy ... this was the year the girls laid it on thick . . . one Rat Court meeting was the only scheduled excitement that the men had . . . however, placards were always worn before ball games by “ratinen'’ . . . more spirit . . . the girls were late getting rat hats . . . the situation was remedied by wearing signs, I am a rat without a hat . . . the boys never did get around to a special rat day program . . . again, the women outshone them by staging a gigantic show on their athletic field . . . all rats were dressed suitably . . . big ears . . . whiskers . . . bowing to sophomores ... a swell time for all . . . but the femmes were glad when it was over . . . the sophs lowered the egos of the rats and raised theirs ... the end of ratting . now they were full-fledged Furmanites . . . never will forget the chase for rat hats from other schools . . . ball game tussles ... a couple of dillies to add to collections. GIVE ME LIBERTY. ON MY HONOR.
