THE END AT LAST! HARROWING REGISTRATION, CONFUSION, CRIP COURSES?... NO SATURDAY CLASSES! A line resembling that of a gigantic army in (luction formed in the Administration Building and corridors of W. C. to fill out forms and blanks -and cross the treasurers palms with green stuff . . . next stop—West flail . . . line waiting . . . meanwhile, girls are wandering all over the Zoo scheduling their classes .. . “What subjects shall I take?” . . . desperate searches for crips, easy professors, no Saturday classes... crumped hinds resulting from filling in countless matriculation cards . . . utter chaos . . . lines form at the rear! . . . another mistake, change again . . . we stand Registration Hopeless Search CHILLS IN STORE INEVITABLE WAIT

BLIGHT OF ORIENTATION; FEAR OF MATRICULATION; A NEW EXPERIENCE September’s clean slate ... orientation—the actual beginning . . . freshman sighs. . . “So this is college . .. paid little attention to our advisors . . . What’s the Zoo? . . . Geer and Townes became home . . . rooms were filled with high school letters and awards . . . name cards gave the new Furmanites a spirit of being subordinate to upperclassmen . . . nights were spent learning new people . . . freezing in the mountains (for the girls) .. . hut a nap during those eternal orientation speeches took care of that . . . the President’s Reception was the big get-together for freshmen (we all went, of course) . . . getting more confused by rules . . . Why do I have to sign out?” . . . Mother John watched over Geer ... Mrs. Lee kept the girls straight with their weekends, etc. . . . all junk collected for four years was dumped into our rooms that were to he our home for an eternity of nine months . . . tours of the campus . . . finding off-limits . . . trying desperately to remember what we should about Furman rules . . . then, the struggle to cram into our jumbled brains the words of several songs . . . “Could I take nine harrowing months of this?” . . . the handbook was our guide . . . we were given a paper alxmt thirty feet long listing classes and times . . . our heads buzzed ... eyes popped ... “What to do with this?” . . . “We pick our classes from this thing?” . . . what next! . . . enough to make some cry . . . would it ever end? ... it finally did . . . hut. then, we were to have our first glimpse of registration . . . THREE HOURS CREDIT. ... after rearranging and changing schedules not less than fifty times, we think wc have conquered registration . . . “Oh, you dreamer!” . . . we then find out that the registrar won't allow us to take eighteen hours . . . hack to the front of the line, same old process . . . you are finally asked to remove yourself quickly from the pressing mass ... with pleasure . . . now to hunt old textbooks, rearrange lunch hours, search for new classrooms —and then forget to go to them ... a Furman student for another semester!
