We offer the 1948 Bonhomie as a written and photographic summary of Furman’s second post-war year. This is our campus by choice. The shady walks are here, the war memorials, the colonnaded buildings, antique libraries, science laboratories, professors, deans, variegated autumn and green spring. While here, we have found Furman unique with its small size, moss-grown traditions, religious organizations and love of athletics. body. In this crowded post-war year, as never before, the student body runs the gamut in ages—from the freshmen to the war-experienced veterans. We have lived in capacity-filled dormitories, in pre-fabs and crowded trailers or we have commuted from our homes—all students, striving harmoniously to one goal. We are learning much from Furman . . . fulfilling our diverse purposes in college . . . and when our mortarboards and black robes are packed away and we realize that the work and pleasures of 1947-1948 will be a lasting part of us, may this Bonhomie recapture for you each phase of this year and its activities. our The singularity, however, of our school lies in the student
