. . . AN ORIENTATION PERIOD Two factors stand out most in the freshman orientation programs which begin at Fall Camp and continue for a period of several weeks after a return to the campuses. The first stresses each new student as an individual, and the second stresses the part that each student must play as a member of the whole Furman student body. Underlying these two factors is the reol meaning and true purpose of the orientation program—guidance which educates these new students in student government, in the curricular and extra-curricular program, in health and a thletic activities, and in religious life on the campus. Thus orientotion tries to insure both the success of c ach new member as an individual and also the school of which he is a part. 25
