Our State North Carolina In history. North Carolina has been a leader. This was the site of the first English colony in the New World and here Virginia Dare was born, the first child born of English parents in America. North Carolina was the first colony to vote for independence from the English and the first to establish a state university. The Tarheel State has advanced in many ways during the past centuries. The three great regions of the Mountain, Piedmont, and Coastal Plain, with many great historical events, has made North Carolina an excellent place for vacationing for many in the United States. North Carolina has grown, is growing, and will continue to grow as we each take a step into her future-“01d North State” shall continue on in her glory. 9

North Carolina’s impressive capitol is constructed of granite hauled over the state’s first railroad. It was completed in 1840 and since then it has been admired by many. North Carolina’s new legislative building is one that all North Carolinians have been proud to claim as their own. 8

Fuquay is not a tremendous town in size but it continues to grow yearly be¬ cause of the increase in business, the love and desire found here make it a better place to live in, and it is a place for one to find a satisfactory surrounding. Varina has its own post office but has now become a part of Fuquay Springs or now known as Fuquay-Varina. 10
