Billy Eatmon brushes up on his vocabulary in Junior English. Seniors David Vance and Candy Harris explore the world of books. Sally Cozart pantomines the application of eye make-up in Dramatics. The field of English encompasses a wide range of areas. Beginning with English I and continuing through English IV, Fuquay students explore gram- mer, practice creative writing, read the works of literary masters from all over the world, and gain a good speaking vocabulary in their home language. A Dramatics class and a Public Speaking class have been added to our English department this year. Dwight Flanagan, a freshman, seeks advice from Mrs. Haddock. 8

Social Studies David Stephens and David Howard learn from posters in World History. Julia Aiken, Bobby Roberts, and Ann Judd admire an economics bulletin board on the influence of the stock market. VH III f Frantic first period in American History. Every graduate of Fuquay is required to com¬ plete four social study courses. The courses offered at Fuquay are North Carolina History for eighth- graders, World History for Sophomores, a television course in United States History for Juniors, Economics- Sociology for Seniors, and a combined course of Geography and Government for any student in high school. Through these courses the students are ex¬ posed to the past, present, and future. Two geography students, Janie Bowling and Richard Horton, read and ask questions. 9
