PURPLE MASQUERS This year a new club was instituted under the supervision of Miss Vera Current. This organiza- tion was christened The Pulple Ma quers and dcvot ed to public speaking and dramatics The speech class was the nucleus and other Juniors and Sen iors were eligible The club met every Tuesday after school, dues of 25 a semester were collec ted, and at one time the enrollment was 14, but it later dropped to ll The Purple Masquers made their debut by giv ing an Assembly program on Armistice Day In De cember they very successfully gave two one act plays in the Assembly,namely, nGuest House, Exclu sive' and nChristmas at the Caseys ' At this time the club made some scenery for the Assembly The next program was at a meeting of the Kiwanis Club Here they gave various angles on the National de bate question Resolved The U S should form an alliance with Great Britain As a climax to their activities, the Masquers, with the help of a few other high school people, save three one act plays at the Coliseum on March 51 The plays were nRich Man, Poor Man, Sauce for the Goslings, an 'Sparkin The proceeds of this were used t send various members to a magor stage production at Iowa City U wwwwwwwfwfwif 55 f ' 1 .
