C LASS HISTORY HORTLY after school opened three years ago the class of 1951 then the sophomore class, organized under the supervislon of Mr Ot1s To head the class we chose Megan O Connor presldent Bud Dyer vice presldent, Charlotte Lehon, secretary, and Joe Fox treasurer, Wlth Mary Ann Monforte as general chairman our first dance the jack Frost Frollc was sponsored The class provided material used on a Syracuse radio program saluting Fulton A feature of the program was the reading of an essay which won first place in a con test conducted by the class When asked to produce a play for the Three One Acts produced by the semor class we won first prize w1th the play SUGAR AND SPICE George Davles, a member of the cast, took first prize for the best actor Three sophomores won top honors mn the prize speakmg contest whlch took place in an as sembly program Miss Lona Preston Advisor Rose Bavacqua was elected president of the junior class Other officers were Elmer Taylor, vice president, Pat Cogswell, secretary, and Joe Fox was re elected treasurer A committee headed by Mary O Brien and Alfred Mitchell was appointed to select the class ring The Tom Tom Tempo was held in the gym November 18 Barbara Edison was chaxrman The junior Class Carnival was held in the gym May 5 jane Rasmus sen was chairman and along with whole hearted co operation of every member of the class one of the most successful social events ln the history of the school was sponsored. We also put on an assembly program during this, our junior year Early this year we got underway when at the first class meeting Alfred Mitchell was elected class president Annie Bonanno v1ce president, Marlene Brown, secretary, and Buzz Bradshaw treasurer The first class function of the year was the senior dance entitled ' Our Blue Heaven Kitty Doornbos was general chairman The senior play, CHEAPER BY THE DOZEN was chosen by a committee headed by Margie Campbell and tryouts were held during March A committee headed by Barbara Edison was appointed to work on the variety show It was produced March 9 Mary O'Brien was appointed to take charge of the candy sales at basketball games This annual project was originated by the class during our sophomore year With Maureen McLaughlin as chairman and with the help of Miss McGraw Semor Game Night was held April 20 After the wr1t1ng of this history many things will happen being measured for caps and gowns, exchanglng name cards, talnng those last snapshots the semor banquet, ceiving our yearbooks gettmg autographs the class day assembly attending Baccal aureate Servlce and fmally there wxll be Commencement itself We will walk across the gage as sggdents to recewe our diplomas and return to our places as alumni of the ass o 1 The four years which we thought would go so slowly are gone We are very grateful to the principal Mr Macdonald and to the teachers who have been so patient and under standing in their guidance The memories of them and of our classmates will drift back reminding us of our good old hlgh school days at our own Fulton High School 9
