SCHOOL HISTORY In 1915, the Fulton County Board of Education, assisted by the County Commissioners, perfected plans for the establishment of a centrally located high school to serve all the county. In September, 1915, Fulton High School became a reality. The hrst school was located in a small building at the corner of Garnett and Whitehall Streets. From the names'of these streets our school has derived its colors. The Hrst school had an enrollment of 145. The following made up the hrst faculty of Fulton High School: Mr. William Hopkins, Principal, I. R. Campbell, Miss Dona Bailey, and Mrs. F. H. Richardson. At the end of the hrst year the school was moved to larger quarters on the corner of Whitehall Street and Trinity Avenue. The first graduating class of 1917 was composed of live members. In January, 1925, the student body moved into the present school building on Washington Street. In 1919, Mr. Guy Moore succeeded Mr. Hopkins as principal and served until june, 1922. Mr. W. F. Dykes became principal after Mr. Moore and served as our principal until 1930 when he and several other members of the Fulton High Faculty were transferred to the newly established North Fulton High School. Mr. R. L, Ramsey, our present principal, succeeded Mr. Dykes and has rendered a faithful service in maintaining the excellent reputation of our school. Our school has been fortunate in having several members of the faculty who have served faithfully for a great many years. The following teachers have been on the faculty for more than 10 years: Miss Sallie E. Shannon, Assistant Principal, I. C. Eppinger, G W Gasque H C Hodges, L. W. Hope, Miss Edith McCallie, E. P. McIlwain, W. M. Suttlesl Miss Sarah Webster! Miss Mary Brooks, and J. E. White. - ' Many graduates of Fulton High have made excellent records in colleges, Others have taken prominent places in the commercial and industrial life of our city and county. All who have attended our school have been prepared to assume places as useful citizens. ts, iss -Q Q- L . Tr ' 535 gfzsgr 1 -1 K. 1 -s , sis
