Wwe. S fi? 7255-'31 A ' - ' 5'-L ,JVVXXNIXXN XXAKX-fX J School .History While we are on the subject of bicentennials, let us consider the Fulton High School system and its growth in its seventeen years of existence from two garret rooms on Garnett Street to three large, modern, completely equipped school build- ings-Fulton, North Fulton, and Russell High Schools. just imagine what will be the growth of our system by the time it celebrates its two-hundredth anniversary! Back in the good old days of 1915, Fulton County decided that its younger gen- eration deserved a high school of its own. Two small, inadequately lighted rooms on the corner of Garnett and Whitehall Streets were rented and the first year they were filled to overflowing. The next year, a building on the corner of Whitehall and Trinity was used, and there Fulton remained until 1925, when it moved to the present SIIG. The first year passed, under the guidance of Professor Hopkins, with. of course, no graduating class and only four faculty members. Mr. Guy A. Moore succeeded Professor Hopkins. Then lVlr. W. F. Dykes took the helmg and lastly, lVlr. R. L. Ramsey, who is principal at the present time. These men, with the help of very able faculty members, have succeeded in making Fulton one of the foremost schools in the state. Graduates from Fulton, continuing their higher education, have always ranked among the highest in scholarship. In sports Fulton generally excels. Between 1916 and 1920, the Fulton Ferocious Feminine Fiven was famous for its smashing vic- tories in basketball. For further information on the subject, a sports feature section is included in our annual. The R. O. T. C. of Fulton has won its honors under the able leadership of Ser- geant R. L. Campbell. Major Bentyne, General Dashiel, Captain Orrill, and Lieu- tenant Fuller, who is also a faculty member, have assisted. The Fulton unit has won the position of honor school in the annual corps area inspection several times, and HA Companyw has held a banner presented to the uBest Drilled Company in Fulton County for several years. Numerous clubs have been organized in the course of a few years, some of which are National Honor Society, Dramatic Club, Home Economics Club, Glce Club, Hi-Y Club, Literary Society, and Officers' Club. Fulton High could never conscientiously complete a history without some men- tion of 'gBob. Bob has been our janitor since the school began. He has always been more than willing to drop whatever he is doing in order to accommodate a student or teacher. For the last few years, Bob has had an assistant, Vlfill. If Fultonimakes as much progress in the next hundred and eighty-three years in proportion to that it has made in the past seventeen, its bicentennial will be a great one.
