,hr 'N f x F ir Q we R' 1 af Sflzool Hzkiory Little did Professor Hopkins realize back in 1915 when he stood at the bow of Good Ship Fulton, then a small, dingy building on Garnett Street, that his school would develop into the splendid up-to-date Fulton High School that it is today. The first years of the voyage were by no means easy sailing for Professor Hopkins and his crew of 250 eager students. The classrooms were small and poorly equipped, but nevertheless the students got a Cfairj knowledge of the mysteries of English, History, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. It seems strange that Fulton then could boast of no graduating class when this year she proudly sends forth IOS wise and learned scholars. The next year the Good Ship anchored at a much better port, located on VVhitehall. She could now boast of a Senior Class of five girls. This number was increased the next year fIQI8D to I2 graduates, 5 boys and 7 girls. During this time Prof. Guy A. Moore served as captain. As the crew was multiplying rapidly, each year containing more and more seekers of knowledge, she gradually sought a firmer harbor. She finally anchored at the present harbor on Washington Street in the splendid modern building called Fulton High, with her much loved and admired Mr. Dykes in command. Through her years of rapid growth, our school has been faithfully backed by the Parent-Teacher Association. This worthy body can never be repaid for its splendid co-operation. The R. O. T. C. has always ranked among the highest in the city and state, running first placemany times in both company and individual drills. A part of this work was the Girls' Military unit of '25-'26, Needless to say our girls at- tracted much attention as they drilled in their red pleated skirts, white blouses and red caps. Fulton has won even more than her share in various state contests in athletics and in scholarship, the office now with a great pride displaying the cups which have been won on different occasions. While all of the students were busy with their scholastic work, they were also organizing and making up many clubs, Dramatic, Hi-Y, Girl Reserves, French, Spanish and Home Economics. An annual of the best quality has been published for many years by the students with the aid of the able faculty. Fulton has al- ways had her athletic teams which have developed in her a fine spirit of life and vigor. After all the main aim of a school is to send forth ambitious, capable and intelligent boys and girls. Fulton has succeeded in this, for reports from colleges have numbered our students among the first. Not only does Fulton boast of a splendid faculty but four of her teachers are her own graduates, West, Taylor, Hudson and Wells. Fulton's history will never be complete without mentioning Bob, our faith- ful janitor. Bob is always ready with a happy smile to greet you, and he performs his tasks with a willingness that wins the admiration of all. And so Fulton High pushes forward, giving her best to her pupils, winning fame for herself through their success and doing her best to make Atlanta the city of cities, Georgia the State of States and the United States the Nation of Nations, FRANCES SMITH, ,3o.
