FRESH MEN--awed, bewildered, confused! SOPHOMORES--period of adjustment past; present concern the future! JUNIORS--accustomed to confusion, conscious of senior rings and anticipating their senior year! SENIORS—leaders of the followers, sentimental at the end, but proud to be Fulton County graduates! This is the student body. These are the classes. We, the Annual Staff, proudly present to you the 1966 PILOT. When the road seems too difficult to travel, regroup your forces and try a little harder. Once the road has been cleared, I am sure you will enjoy your accomplish- ments a great deal more due to the additional effort that was required in order to make it a successful journey. Good luck, much happiness, and success 10 each of you. 8 Harold M. Garrison, Principal Always busy, always interested, Mr. Garrison finds time to joke with students and welcome visitors with a friendly smile. The former basketball coach of the PILOT team shows much enthusiasm in our sports and other school activities. This is our principal, whom we all re- spect and admire. BAND PRESIDENT: Annette Bizwell VICE-PRESIDENT: Bill Bailey SECRETARY-TREASURER: Lois Isbell SENTINEL: Jackie Pemberton ANNETTE SHEILA BRENDA PENNY BETTY SANDRA Drum majorette, Annette Bizwell, and majorettes Sheila DeMyer, Betty Shaw, Penny McNeill. Brenda Sams and Sandra Coffey have led our F.C.H.S, Band through many spectacular performances. Performing graciously at our first football game with Warren County, the majorettes came onto the field sporting new satin suits. At Homecoming they did intricate routines, each working out a different act. Drum majorette Bizwell, after at- tending a twirling camp at Austin Peay State College, July 26-30, with the other majorettes, did a magnificent job leading the band. o o The Pilot Band looked forward to a very successful year under a new director. It showed the co-operation when a special program was improvised for the new Carborundum plant in Hickman. Hoping for spanking new uniforms by 1966, our band members went through rugged hours of practice, per- fecting intricate formations. At every home football game and at most away games, they proved to be a real crowd pleaser. Christmas parades, concerts and a new pep band for the basketball season were also among the band's hopefuls. Calvert City, Union City, Tiptonville, and the Banana Festi- val in Fulton were among parade credits. F.F.A. The Fulton County Chapter of the Future Farmers of America chose Miss Debby Taylor, a sophomore, as their 1966 Sweetheart. F.H.A. Van Minton, a senior, was chosen as the 1966 Sweetheart by the Fulton County Chapter of the Future Homemakers of America. SWEETHEARTS FOOTBALL -- The 1_ win and 9 loss record of the 1965-66 Pilot Football team does not justify their efforts. These boys put forth many hard hours of work in both practice and play. As you all know experience is the backbone of any sport; this being only the third year of football at Fulton County, inexperience is prevalent. Fulton County, being the great school it is, has the will-power and desire to overcome these handicaps and will overcome them. Having the won- derful man Coach Lester, to whom this annual is dedicated, and players in Fulton County of un- failing loyalty to the sport; I believe our football team will prevail in the future. BASKETBALL — The year of 1965-1966 was Dale Alexander's first at Fulton County as the bas- ketball coach. He has built a team that not only he is proud of, but all of Fulton County. This team, now having a 14 win and 2 loss record, has ranked in the top-ten of the region twice this year and is now in eighth place. This basketball team has shown the teamwork this year that it takes to have a winning basketoall team, and as always the sportsmanship that Fulton County teams excel in. The fans of Fulton County, as some of the players and Coach Alexander ex- pressed it, have been great. This is what it takes to have a good sport; a team that works hard and unfalteringly and a crowd of jubilant fans showing that they appreciate it. I would like to wish all the Pilot teams of years to come best wishes and lots of luck. 74 Your Sports Editor, Rickey D.
