WtdauctH A great many things have happened since we have entered high school, so I will try with as few words as possible to give you a brief history of the Senior class of 1958. We entered our Freshman year in 1954 with 45 students. Our sponsor was Mr. Francis M. Rust. Linda Hale was our candidate for Miss Hickman High, and Joe Roberts was her Business Manager. Rebecca Robertson was our Homecoming Queen attendant. We had four boys on the Kitten team. We entered our Sophomore year with 43 students, and Mrs. Myrtle Bailey was our sponsor. Mary Lou Samuels was elected Miss Hickman High that year, and Harold Be- quette was her Business Manager. Rebecca Robertson was our Basketball Queen attend- ant. We were honored to have one of our classmates, Susan Hale, elected cheerleader. Jimmy King, a newcomer from Western, was on the main basketball team. We also had several boys on the Kitten team that year. Our class officers were: President, Charles Council; Vice President, Jerry McMullin; Secretary-Treasurer, Henry Callison, and Reporter, Mary Helen Everett. Linda Hale and Jimmy King were chosen from our class to reign as May Queen and King. We were especially glad to be joined in our Junior year by the students from Western, due to the consolidation. This increased our class to 49 students. Mary Lou Samuels was again our candidate for Miss Hickman High, and Jimmy King was her Business Manager. Mrs. Helen Naylor and Mrs. Gladys Barnett, our sponsors, helped us with our Junior Plav, Hobgoblin House , which was a huge success. We had several boys on the bas- ketball team, and Susan Hale was again elected cheerleader. Our class officers were: Jimmy King, President; Marcella Kemp, Vice President; Linda Hale, Secretary; and Joe Roberts, treasurer. Linda Trusty was the class reporter. With the money from the play, the class attended the Cotton Carnival in Memphis at the close of school. We were joined this year by the students from Cayce, again due to the consolidation. We are now a class of fifty-two. We had several boys on the ball team, and Susan Hale and Annelle Fowler were our cheerleaders. Susan Hale was our candidate for Miss Fulton County High. Charles Stone, Charles Council, Bill Crouch, and Louetta Wheeler were members of the Band during our Junior and Senior years, and Linda Wiseman, Mary Lou Samuels, and Linda Hale were majorettes. Elaine Bel lew was editor of the school news. Our sponsors were Mrs. Julia White, Miss Agnes Sublette, Mr. J. C. Lawson, and Mr. James DeSpain. Class officers were: President, Jimmy King; Vice President, Doris McMullin; Secretary-Treasurer, Mary Helen Everett; Reporter, Annelle Fowler. . . . Rebecca Minton 24
