FHA 1.2, 3, 4 Glee Club 1,2 Spooky Tavern 3 The Antics of Andrew 4 CLASS HISTORY On a fall morning in 1947, twenty-one anxious children entered Fulton School, to begin their first step up the ladder of knowledge. Betty Schwyn, Sam Everett, Alvin Johnson, Larry Smith, Joe Vasko, Christine Putman, Donald Rashley, Anne Owens, and Dale Fetterman were among the class of 1959 who met their first grade teacher, Miss Tietz, that morning, and who have been with us all twelve years. Our second grade teacher was Miss Gleckler, and that year Sharon Strayer entered our class from Thompson School. Mrs. Kessler patiently guided us through the third and fourth grades, and Mrs. Fetterman was our teacher in the fifth and sixth grades. They helped prepare us for the seventh step--- Junior high! We thought we were some stuff, when we were given lockers and could change classes. Mr. Shaver was our advisor in the seventh and eighth grades, and he also taught many of our subjects. Along with junior high came many new experiences and activities. We all enjoyed participating in different sports and were very proud of our winning basketball team during those years. The years were fleeing rapidly, and before we realized it we had reached the ninth step. We were restless, giggley freshmen. Three more students joined our class that year. Larry Marsh came to us from Delta, Jerry Pfund from Monclova, and Margaret Taft from Swanton. Anne Owens was elected president and Mrs. Craig was our advisor. At the beginning of our sophomore year, we elected Dale Fetterman as our president and Mr. Miller was our advisor. Bib Fickle came to us from Lyons our junior year. Sam Everett was chosen as our pres- ident and Mr. Walter was our advisor, who kept us busy working on money making projects, and preparing for our Junior-Senior Banquet which we called Oriental Gardens. Mrs. Hay- den, and Miss Boehm were the directors of our play, Spooky Tavern. At last we have reached the top of the ladder, our senior year. This year we welcomed one more new member to our class. Bob Leach from Pettisville. Because Sam Everett had proved such an able leader, we did not hesitate to elect him president again. This has been our busiest year. We have worked hard on the many activities which come with being seniors, and working together, we have had many memorable experiences. We have agreed and disagreed, but we know that when we are gone we will cherish these memories. We have crossed the bay, the ocean lies before us. ” Though we leave and each of us goes his separate way, we are all looking forward to a bright, happy future. Upon entering the gym, a beautiful oriental scene greeted your eyes. The entire gym was decorated under a lovely canope of rose and pink crepe paper. Against the east wall of the gym was a pagoda, a stream of water, some willow trees, and a bridge leading over the stream to the pagoda. Trees, flowers, grass, and lanterns were distributed gaily over the dance floor, forming a beautiful oriental garden. The dinner was prepared by Mrs. Avina and was served by the junior mothers. The meal consisted of: Tomato Juice Fried Chicken Mashed Potatoes and Gravy String Beans Sam Everett was our toastmaster for the evening. Larry Marsh welcomed everyone, and Duane Elliott gave the response. Connie Ruffner read a cute poem of farewell to the Junior Class, and Mr. Gillespie climaxed the dinner with a speech. After the dinner, Genevieve Jagielski and Duane Elliott were crowned king and queen. The dance music was provided by a combo from Bowling Green and a wonderful time was had by all. Metamora Holiday Tournament Won All County Team By Fulton Raiders The Fulton Raiders extended their winning streak by taking the Metamora Christmas tourna- ment with wins over Metamora and Chesterfield. On Monday. Dec. 29th, Fulton played Metamora and won a hard fought victory. The Raiders start- ed out fast with a full-court press and at the end of the first quar- ter led 21-14. In the second quar- ter, Coach Adamchak gave his bench a chance at the Tigers, and the Raiders led at half-time 40- 25. 1st team Joe Vasko Sam Everett 2nd team Dale Fetterman The Raiders’ first five started the second half but had lost their touch and only scored two points in the third quarter, while the Tigers scored 15, making the score 42-40 at the third quarter mark. In an exciting fourth quarter, the Fulton boys settled down and scored 22 points to win the game 64-58. Scoring honors of the night went to Joe Vasko with 21 points for Fulton and Sam Everett with 17 points for Fulton. Duncan led the Tigers with 17 points. The next night the Raiders played Chesterfield for the championship. Since the Raiders’ had played a hard game the night before, Coach Adamchak started his strong second five against the Comets. At the end of the first half Fulton held a 6 point lead over the Chesterfield Comets— 29-23. The Raiders’ first five started the second half and beat the out- classed Comets 60-37 to win the trophy and tournament. On Jan. 29, Metamora played host to the Raiders, who were not in their best form. Fulton was never in trouble, and finished the game with only one of its first five on the floor. Joe Vasko aided Fulton in its 64-58 victory by piling up 20 points. The reserve Raiders took their victory over the hosts, also. Last Friday, Ottawa Hills' Green Arrows visited Fulton, and were soundly drubbed 76-48 for their efforts. The Raiders started slowly, and led by only 7 points, 35-28, at half-time. In the third quarter, however, the Raiders poured on the shots for a 30- point period. Vasko, Fetterman, Everett, Doc Gillen, and Roberts all hit double figures, with Vas- ko’s 17 points being high. The Raiders gave Homecoming fans a sample of their skill Sat- urday as they flew beyond the Fayette Eagles, 91-53. Play was close during the first half, how- ever, and the score was 37-32, favor of the Raiders, as the first two periods came to a close. Once again the Raiders staged a strong third quarter, and rack- ed up 37 points during the per- iod, to make the score 74-42. Coach Adamchak used his bench ail during the fourth quarter This gave Fayette little relief, however, for the Raider bench team ran the final score to 91-53. Leading scorer was Dale Fetter- man, with 25, while Joe Vasko was close behind with 24. Everett and Roberts also hit double fig- ures, with 18 and 12 respectively. The reserves were victorious, but by a slim margin - 32-30. The Raiders wind up their reg- ular season this week.
