CLASS FLOWER.........Yellow Rose CLASS COLORS.........Blue and Gold CLASS MOTTO..........Don t Just Itch For Success-Scratch. Page 1 May 1955 Page 3 DEDICATION The class of 1927 was the first class to be graduated from our mam building. This was 29 years ago. That class had 13 members. Since that time 407 diplomas were issued at the rate of 1 5 a year. So much has happened since we began using the main building. We ve had our trouble, but we ve had our big moments also. We, the Class of 1956, will probably set the record for having the smallest graduating class, five girls and one boy, and our hope and wish is that this record will stand unbroken. Whereas the Class of 1927 is on record as being the first to be gradu- ated from the Main Building, we do hereby dedicate this 1956 issue of the Fultoman to that class. What? What was this? No! It couldn t be! It was the year 1969. Whom was I seeing? Where was I? --In France-. I was strolling down La Rue de la Paix when I glanced to my right to see a familiar name, Le Salonde Madem- oiselle Bette Pfund. Instinctively I entered and who should greet me but Betty Pfund of the 1956 graduating class of Fulton Centralized School. She had a flair for design in high school and had been urged to build a dress- making salon m Paris. Her clothes have gained world-wide recognition be- cause they are feminine, elegant and flattering; they play up the woman rather than the dress. After a pleasant vacation in Gay Paree, I winged my way back to the USA by Trans-Atlantic Airways and found my needs were all capably pro- vided for by the attractive stewardess, Sharon Patty. She had graduated from Mercy Hospital and the University of California Los Angeles cum laude. Barbara Owens was the next person I was to encounter. She and her husband, Don Frybarger, were living in New York City. She had been re- cently promoted to the position of head X-Ray Technician at White Cross Hospital. Don was finishing his residency that year and would enter private practice in a suburb of the city near their home. As I made my way toward home I decided to stop over in Philadelphia to visit a nursery school that had nation-wide recognition. As I approached a group of children playing on the grounds, I recognized Edith Eaton as the director of the group. After talking with Edith, I realized that she had ac- complished her life long ambition to become a teacher. Motoring across the country on the new super highways proved to be an interesting experience, especially after I saw a beautiful colonial type motel with a huge sign, The Turret, flashing on and off. I drove in the main drive and a uniformed porter opened the door and escorted me to the main office. I registered and was being shown to my room when a fa- miliar person came toward me with out-stretched hand-Luanne Leininger. She and her husband had built a chain of motels throughout the United States. They were especially popular because of their push button efficiency. The next morning, being reluctant to leave this wonderful hospitality, I pulled away and suddenly out of nowhere came a car crashing into me— I awakened with a start—What a rude way to have these fascinating scenes taken away. I soon realized that it had all been a dream and I was seeing the 1956 graduating class of Fulton Centralized School in their future pro- fessions. H.J.Y. Page 16 CLASS HISTORY On a clear day in September of 1944, four members of our class met for the first time at Fulton Centralized School. They were-Sharon Patty, Barbara Owens, Don Frybarger and Edith Eaton. Luanne Leminger joined us in the middle of our first year. Miss Marvel Moyer was our teacher in the first and second grades. We went on to the third grade where Mrs. Kesler was our able teach- er. Don Frybarger left us here and the rest of us went on to the fourth grade. Next we proceeded upwards twenty-two steps all the way to the top floor to enter the fifth and sixth grades where Mrs. Tate taught us for two years. At last! We are in Junior High. Here under the guidance of Mr. Shaver we elect officers for the first time and get a taste of high school life. Chang- ing classes helped to make the time pass quickly. Now we are in high school. We elected Sharon Patty as President and chose Mrs. Craig as our Freshmen Advisor. We all liked her so well that we elected her our advisor for all our remaining years in high school. Don Frybarger was welcomed back into the class at the beginning of the year. Initiation was endured and passed, parties were enjoyed and lessons were passed all in good time. Next step on the ladder finds us as Sophomores where Don Frybarger was elected President and Barbara Owens Vice-President. High school was getting busier and busier, but we made it through and passed. In our Junior year, Barbara Owens as President, with the help of Mrs. Craig, helped us to do the many tasks and joys which were encountered. We received our class rings early in the fall, started putting out the Echo'' in January, presented our play Little Acorns in April, and honored the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Banquet in May. This was a very busy year. To top it off, we went to Washington, D. C. for a week. We enjoyed the sights and learned many things. Finally we are Seniors. Mrs. Craig has seen us faithfully through high school. Don Frybarger was elected President and Barbara Owens Vice- President. We had our pictures taken and they turned out as well as could be expected. Betty Pfund was welcomed into the class from Anthony Wayne. The Echo was turned over to the Juniors in January. We worked together on the annual and saw it through to the finish. After graduation we, to- gether with the Juniors, will wave good-bye to our friends and relatives as we leave for a week in New York City. As we find ourselves near the end of school, we look back and remem- ber all the happy times and the sad times. Learning our lessons hasn t al- ways been a snap, but we tried and we succeeded. We can only look to the future and hope to use our education to the best advantage. Page 18 CLASS WILL We, the Senior Class of 1956, of Fulton Centralized School, Fulton County, and State of Ohio, being in sound mind and memory, do hereby make, publish, and declare this to be our last will and testament, hereby re- voking any will or wills heretofore made by us. We, as a class, will our chairs in the office to the Freshmen girls. We, the Senior girls, will our place in the Lounge to the Sophomore girls hoping they will make as much use of it as we did. I, Luanne Leininger, will the refrigerator in the Home Economics Room to Carol Frybarger, hoping it will stay full for a change. I, Barbara Owens, will my brains to Jerry Pfund hoping he will make better use of them than I did. I, Betty Pfund, will my driving ability to Don Rashley hoping he can keep out of the ditch. We, the Senior class, will to the teachers the peace of mind our grad- uation will bring. I, Sharon Patty, will my good disposition and behavior in class (when I go) to'the Juniors in the hopes they will make use of it. I, Don Frybarger, will nothing to anyone, as I'm taking it all with me, which is my privilege as I m the only boy in the Senior Class. I, Edith Eaton, will my locker to Dick Owens hoping he can reach the top shelf better than I. I, Barbara Owens, will my ability to talk in study hall to Christine Put- man and Anne Owens. (Not that they need it.) I, Luanne Leininger, will my charge account with the GAA to Susie Wood and Diane Patyi hoping they can do as well as I did. I, Edith Eaton, will my quiet and bashful (?) ways to Jane Shaver in the hopes they will work better for her. I, Betty Pfund, will my fighting ability to Don Fetterman hoping some day he will be as strong as I. On one side was a small hill with a pond, flow- ers and palm trees. An ocean was placed on the other end of the gym and was filled with fish. The ceiling had silver stars hanging from a deep blue sky. The floor was waxed for dancing. The dinner was prepapred by Mrs. Elliott and Mrs. Vaughn. It was serv- ed by the Juniors Mothers. The menu consisted of: Hawaiian Punch Scalloped Potatoes and Ham Corn Cole Slaw Butter and Rolls Pie a la Mode Coffee After the dinner, Jim Minor was toastmaster for the program.
