------------CLASS HISTORY--------------------------------------- The day we had so long been looking forward to had finally arrived. Our first day of school. On September 8, 1943, ten of us met for the first time at Fulton Centralized School. When Miss Marvel Moyer, our able teacher, arrived, she met ten eager pupils ready for their first big step toward the field of education. Those ten pupils were: Penny Burkey, Arlene Cook, Joann Deck, Hal Fettecman, Laura Huber, Bonnie Poorman, Bob Schwyn, Betty Snyder, Virginia Vasko, and Dwight Watkins. Virginia left us in the second semester of our first year. Miss Moyer continued teaching us reading, writing, and arithmetic in the second grade. We were now prepared for our 3rd and 4th grade years, which were taught by Mrs. Lola Kesler. By this time we were not so timid and were becoming more mischievous and were a little harder to discipline. But aside from this, Mrs. Kesler has taught us many things which have proved to be of much value in our later years. Dolores Rashley from Adrian, Michigan joined us in the fourth grade. Now we were ready to be promoted to the top floor in the 5th and 6th grades. Here we met Mrs. Tate, who prepared us for Junior High. Vir- ginia Vasko rejoined us in the 5th grade. Yes, you guessed it, at last we were in Junior High. Now we were able to change classrooms, elect class officers, and have class parties, all of which made us feel more grown up. Through all this, we had a very capable advisor, Mr. Shaver, who taught us sternly (which we deserved) but kindly and patiently how to become students qualified to enter High School. Bob Carter from Swanton, joined us in the 8th grade. All of us have enjoyed our eight years in elementary school. Though it was hard for our parents to believe, we were growing up and ready to enter high school. As Freshmen, we were thrilled in being able to choose our own subjects—even though three of them were required. We elected Mrs. Craig as our advisor. Monte Minor from Bedford, and Tom Pupos from Metamora, joined us in our Freshmen year. In our Sophomore year, Mrs. Shaver was our advisor. Dwight Watkins was elected as president and Monte Minor as vice president. We gave two plays for an assembly, which were also presented at the P.T.A. To make money, we had bake sales and sold plaques. Don Burton, from Auburn, Illinois, joined us in this year. Our Junior year was a busy one. We ordered and received our class rings from the Herff-Jones Co. We gave our play “Too Many Dates,” on April 23. To earn money, we worked at Baden’s Motel. In May, we were hosts and hostesses at the Junior-Senior Banquet. Mr. Haver was elected as class advisor and Monte Minor served as president with Dwight Watkins as vice president. To end the Junior year, we took a class trip to Wash- ington, D.C., on May 30. At last! We are Seniors. Mr. Lash and Mr. Burris are our advisors. Hal Fetterman was elected president and Laura Huber as vice president. We had our pictures taken at Powell Studio. Our class play, “Be Happy? Go Wacky!” was given on November 6. We continued working at Balden’s Motel to earn money. We have ordered our invitations, name cards, caps and gowns. We compiled the annual and turned the “Echo” over to the Juniors. We shall leave on a six day class trip to New York on May 29. Our school days are now over, and as we go our different ways we hope we can use our education to the best of our ability to make this a better world in which to live. —Dolores Rashley This page sponsored by: METAMORA ELEVATOR LUGBIL’S-ARCHBOLD
