J ' T-V v 1 9 5 5 It is an unwritten law of year- book editing that every yearbook must have a theme and a serious dedication. We don ' t believe this. We renounce without sorrow, the We - of - the - younger - generation - march - bravely - forward type theme, which has been used, worn, and dragged out. We, of the annual staff, although caught in the building boom and a solemn and serious decade, feel that the world in essence is now already too solemn. We hope, therefore, that in some little way we will inject a little joy or happiness into your heart as you read this Our Yearbook. Through the cooperation of MGM and Hal Wallace, we were able to use this year ' s TOM AND JERRY theme. We have tried to carry this sequence throughout the annual and we hope that you will enjoy every page of it. Alex Omalev The hardworking sophomore council, (rooters caps in hand,) pulled the class through the financial embarrassment common to most sophomore classes with a successful sale of these popular caps. Big event, however, was the Turkey Day Dance. For the first time the identity of the queen was kept a secret — even from the queen. Class President Jack Bass and class advisor Mr. Jack Chap- man, alone knew the deep secret and kept mum until the big moment when the queen was presented with her bouquet. The Sophomores also spon- sored a successful after-basketball-game dance. To wind up the year they pre- sented the school with the tradition- al gift to keep the class of ' 55 alive in the memories of future students. The evidence of his work is apparent in the many activities that were carried on during the year. Keeping the minutes and the records m order was a |ob well done by Yvonne Miller, our Student Body Secretary. Bob Owston, Student Body Treasurer, completes the list of our officers. He, also, has done a marvelous piece of work during the year. Handling activities for the largest student body in the history of F.J.C., John Kohkonen did a fine job as head of the Associated Student Body. 53 sS H U n Jim Marsters Commissioner of Rallies Norman Brock Commissioner of Athletics O n tn Karen Freeberg Commissioner of Publicity 54 Sianding, leff to right: Jody Shoop, Amado Reynoso, Jan Taylor, Al Boehner, Jim Marsters, Barbaro Marsh, Norman Brock, Karen Freeberg. The event started the whirl of social activities for FJC, with the first day highlighted by swim- ming, ping pong, volleyball and making new friends. Highlight of the dance held in Emerson Hall that evening was the Broom Dance in which the winners, Chuck Greer and Pat Schlagenhauff, were elected King and Queen of Freshman Camp. After the morning worship services, held by the Hornet Y, ' and the Freshman-Sophomore football game, in which the freshmen outplayed the sophomores, 8 to 6, the busses returned to Fullerton Wednesday evening. ■s£e: . aii t lcnlc ' •i ' ' t ' sr Providing fun and entertainment for oil who at- tended, the Fall Picnic was held at Irvine Park on September 24. The day was filled with fun and laughter as students participated in relay races, watermelon and pie eat- ing contests, bicycle riding and water fights. Cheers and songs were features of the exciting pep rally, held before the dinner of Bar-B-Q beef, cole slaw and beans. The big affair was followed that evening by the Fall Dance, held in the old study hall on the high school campus. c;ii z4lter § ante Among the best attended and most memorable events held at FJC were the after-game dances sponsored by. the many organizations on campus. The enthusiasm and energy brought about by the football and basketball games made these dances lively and enjoyable. ancsii Turkey - j ciy Starting the Turkey Day activities off on Wednesday, November 24, was the traditional Homecoming Parade, v hich proceeded to the corner of Spadra and Commonv ealth, for the big Turkey Day Rally. Winning the parade sweepstakes was the beautifully decorated car entered by the Mar- quis Car Club. First prize for the best car was won by A. W. S. and first prize for the best float was won by the Phi Alpha Omega Sorority. Neither the formality of the reception line nor the dignity of their dress stopped students from enjoy- ing themselves in their usual informal manner. Their friendly spirit even carried over to the band, v hen the evening was concluded by Myrna Lewellyn ' s leading everyone in Christmas carols. iSprincf Jnlorntci 88 The Spring Informal, sponsored by the Hornet Knights, was held February 4 at the Chuckwagon. Music was fur- nished by the Beltones. urncLi On March 18, the Turnabout Dance was held in the college lounge with the Continentals of Garden Grove providing the music. The high- ight of the evening was the election of Bob Enzweiler as Mr. F. J. C. 89 Pictured above is the fine crowd that turned out to see the Fullerton Hornets defeat the Santa Ana Dons for the third straight year. The spirit was much improved this year and a lot of credit goes to Rally Commissioner Jim AAarsters, who planned our rallies and halftimes. We all want to thank Jim and hope the spirit he built will carry on in the years to come. Halftime activities were provided by the Hornet Band, seen below marching onto the field at the Santa Ana game. I % We all remember the great fun we hod at the fall picnic. Here the pep crew builds up school spirit. cW i UA nyn n- S iag wirler y We are really proud of our Song Leaders this year and we have a right to be. Look at all the beauty — WOW.
