Night games at stocker “Ligrani’s Raiders.” That’s who the Fruita Monument football team said they were. They fought and strived for a good season. Although the beginning looked rough, the team pushed and worked hard to beat the odds. With a junior-dominated team, the Cats were young and inexperienced; but what they lacked in experience, they began to gain in momentum. In his third year as head coach and as first-year Activities Director, Ligrani had the advantage of one of the state’s best coaching staffs. Dan Miller, in his fourth year, was in charge of the offense and defense lines. Steve Quimby, also in his fourth year, coached the offense and defense backs. Steve Congdon, second year, and Jim Stockert, first year, coached the Junior Varsity. 27
