, 19 DANNY ALVINO The Fronuer Reg1onal Football Team 1n lts second year was a vastly lmproved club despite. IES record The prevlous year s lettermcn d1d much 1n holdlnglt together Wlfh a good SO11d front wall whlch gave oppos1ng lmemen and backs much dlfflculty all year Agaln as 1n the f1fSI year of football e were lacking reserve strength due to asmall squad Many of Saturday s games are won on week days and the fact we could not work as hard durmg the week 1n preparmg for the games d1d not a1d our efforts Every team we played had nothlng but pralse for our boys and some coaches ad m1tted that breaks alone gave them the w1n rather than a loss We started out 1n what was predlcted to be a walk away aga1nst a strong Amherst ED CRAFTS team and although havmg the ball most of the JOHN WHALEN t1me our boys playlng a wonderful game lost 7 0 on a fumbled punt Our next tr1p to South Hadley again proved our defenslve strength and wound up a t1e game at nothmg to nothlng Mahar Reglonal the next opponent x on 6 0 after a very good game Another bad center was respons1ble for thls score Our one chance of score was offset by an 0ff1C131 gettlng 1n the way of Danny Alvmo who looked as though he was go1ng for the dlstance The Murdock game played on a muddy f1eld was probably the only game all year 1n which our boys were out classed However 1f you w1ll look at the record you w1ll see Murdock scored heavlly agamst all IIS op ponents Agamst Ware another strong foe played I aga1n on a wet f1eld we had four starters out of the game and started four freshmen who gave a very good account of themselves Experlence 1S a big factor and Ware won thls LEN WINSKY game 19 0 DAVE WATTS Our tradxtlonal Arm1st1ce Day Game was agam supposedly to be an easy vtctory for Arms Academy but our boys playmg the best game of the year were a determlned hard h1tt1ng team and the game could have been eas1ly the upset of the football season Posting a 6 0 lead at halftxme the boys returned and looked as lf II were golng to be a w1n for Frontxer Only an 1nsp1red Arms team wlth a good passing attack fmally scored and golng 1nto the last quarter wxth about two mmutes to play 1ntercepted a Frontler pass whxch gave them a hard earned vlctory ln summarzzmg the season although the record book w1ll have II as no wms f1ve losses and one t1e the team gave all ll had W1th more boys lnterested we hope future Frontxer teams w1ll glV6 the opposmg team many scares before each season comes to a close The Semor boys who have played the1r last game of football for Frontler can be proud that they played on a team whxch never gave up and d1d not have nearly the experlence and reserve strength possessed by many of IIS r1vals Many of these boys w1ll glve a good account of themselves 1n future gr1d1ron wars S '1 ' 1 .
