The enthusiasm and dedication of this year's French Club has meant in- volvement in numerous activities. Cultural events included a spirited con- cert by folk singer, Jaques Yvart, and the entertaining mime of Marcel Marceau at Shea's. We contributed to school ac- tivities with our Mardi Gras Float at Homecoming, with our gourmet cuisine at the International Dinner, and of course, with our fund-raisers, especially the popular Camation sales. We are financing a member in the competitive National French Test, and are planning a trip to Toronto. Also underway is a visit to the Senior Meadows Retirement Home for a demonstration in crepe- making and a unique spring fashion show. Vive le cercle francais! 101 ROW 1: D. Del.aRosa, J. Polish Club The purpose of a foreign language club is to provide its members with a bet- ter understanding of that language as well as the people who speak it and their culture. Members of the Polish Club are proud of their ancestry and heritage. Most members study the Polish language here at Frontier where three years as well as a one-half year course in conversation are offered in the curriculum. A very busy year has been planned by the officers of the Polish Club. Septem- ber was the time of organization and the election of officers. In October, mem- bers attended the variety show REWIA- RETRO Z POLSKI and the Polonaise Ball, as well as preparing a float for the homecoming parade. November was spent organizing the International Christmas Festival held on December 7. ln December, Frontier was visited by a jomalist from the Panorama Polska magazine who wrote a feature article on the Polish Club. Candy was sold during this month and members prepared a Christmas program for the Senior Citizen's Homes. In April, the annual SWIECONKA Easter meal was held. Traditional foods and festivities provided fun for all. May brought the Seventh Annual Foreign Language Day at St. Bonaventure University and the Polish Club actively participated. Several members are plan- ning to return to Poland to spend July and many will be in Poland for the first time. Indeed, it has been an exciting year. DZIEKUJEIVIY and DUZO SZCZESCIA! John R. Oleniacz, President 103 Spanish Club This year's Spanish Club has had a very productive year. We started off by winning the first place in the Homecoming Parade, for our representation of The Pinata. Student Govemment started off its year with Homecoming. The parade, contests and dance are all functions of Student Govemment. They also plan assemblies for the student body and give students a chance to voice their opinions and do the things they want to do for their school. 105 Yorkers Yorkers are junior members of the New York State Historical Association. Based on the Academy Award winning movie The Apartment , it involves a nice guy in a world where nice guys have no identity. Chuck Baxter finds his only attraction is his apartment. To get a promotion in the Manhatten Insurance Company where he works, he lends his apartment to the executives of the company. Chuck meets Fran Kubilik and falls in love. Hoping she'll retum this love, Chuck finds Fran is involved with his boss, Mr. Sheldrake. Chuck is given a promotion by Sheldrake in trade for executive rights to the apartment. After Sheldrake gives Fran 515100 to buy herself a Christmas present, she realizes he falls short of her dreams, and while crying in Chuck's apartment, she attempts suicide. Chuck comes to the rescue quite by accident and as the play ends nice guys triumph again, and boy meets girl, boy gets girl is completed. Their future promises a real romance. Under the talents of Mr. Larry Albert, Mr. Ron Nonis, Mr. John Gober, and Mr. John Kerr, the cast, orchestra, and crew put forth great effort and dedication in creating this enjoyable and successful show. lun: amu irs The Cast and Candids of Promises usuusw--:-,. . Fron- tier, however, avenged this defeat by capturing the Chamber of Commerce Invitational Run and the E.C.l.C. Team Cham- pionship, edging our East Aurora both times. The highlight of the season was Phil Kraninski's smashing vic- tory in the sectionals which established Phil as Western New York's premier cross country runner and Frontier Central as Western New York's premier cross country team. The team struggled against several stronger teams, but even with the combination of injuries and a small squad, the team did manage to win 2 very exciting meets against Maryvale and Lancaster. Dolphin enthusiasm was kept alive throughout the season by sophomore Matt McCoy, who set 3 individual school records in the 200 I.M., 100 Fly, and 100 breaststroke which was a 17 year old mark set back in 1963. Freshman Scott Endress also set 2 school records in the 500 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke. The Dolphins hope to lose but one swimmer, senior Mark Cellini, who contributed 3 successful years as an excellent diver and sprint swimmer. With new recruits from Amsdell next year, the team is aiming for an im- proved record next year. 154 fi? ii iii f if 1uaf M--' -....,,,,, '--u-f ?
