CLASS PROPHECY Now Pm not the superstitious type--No siree-but I'm not one to doubt fatejand lt was more than coincidence that brought the little man into my dreams last night. A little grey haired old fellow-bent considerably by the passing years, with a wise wrinkled face and bright little eyes that belied his years. v But to get on with it, I seemed, to be walking alone on feathery soft grass searching for something behind tall trees and low spreading shrubbery-and suddenly, from nowhere, he was standing there with me! He chuckled and told me not to be frightened. He knew what I was looking for, though I confess I don't know. We sat down on the grass and he proceeded ...... Now dear, don't you know we should leave the future to take care of itself. But since you're so intent on it, I'11 tell you ...... And as he began to talk I saw hazy moving figures in the distance as if the projection machine was not quite regulated correctly, and the screen was merely the soft, transparent air. The woman who listened to the tearful pleas of the many children was dark complexioned and s-oft voiced. The little man smiled and said, That's Modestyre Cornella, she's head of an orphanage now. And then the scene faded and another took its place. A young man was sitting at a large desk I looked twice-and finally realized that it was Gerald Falletti. He is now Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. The next picture showed a tall, dark haired young man delivering milk. That's Dlck Fogliasso. He's head of the Fogliasso Dairy. And then I watched Roger Bwinque walk across the campus of Northwestern. He is teaching History there now. I haven't seen Bette Layden I said My but you're impatient, he said, as you see, Bette has changed. She is now Tyrone Power's wife. Bill Johnson is now the president of the Johnson Potato Chip Co Bill is selling chips in nine states now and is planning on expanding his business in the fall. Evelyn Nichols has always liked to travel, and she is doing plenty of lt now. She is a traveling saleswoman for the Real Silk Hosiery Co. Bob Guerrero, who started as a paper boy, is now Editor-in-Chief of the Pittsburg Sun. There before me, was a rather short, heavy-set man, sitting at a mahogany desk. The little man said, You should know him, that's Bob Bernard. He told me that Bob is now President of the Santa Fe Railroad, and that the Vice-President is Donald Marlier. I am sure they are both very capable of handling their positions. The next picture really surprised me. It was Jo Anne Vacca, sitting at a desk in the office of J. D. Rockefeller Jr. She is his stenographer. Madelaine Ansart is playing her accordion at the Stork Club. She's doing quite' well now. It is Paul Terlip! I could hardly believe my eyes. He is now the Vice-President of the United States. Then the scene faded. I feared the little man would not tell me about the rest. But he only stretched and turned to me, smiling. He knew what I was waiting for. Colleen Simone is now Secretary to the President of the Simone Mining Company, he said, She is also very happily married. I sighed and 'relaxed for this was most interesting. Th-ere was Art Guerrerri working in his shoe shop in Frontenac. He owns shops in several other towns, but he prefers to stay in Frontenac. John D Turlip is now a great surgeon in New York. And guess who his nurse is? It is Margaret Jane Zortz. They are doing very well now. Richard Senecaut now has his own radio show. Featuring none other than himself and his orchestra. He plays the Coronet. The next picture I saw was one that made me laugh aloud. I saw two feet protruding from under a car. I finally got closer and saw that it was Andrew Fenoglio Working. He is half owner of the Oberto Service Station. Last but not least, we see two men busily working. They seem to be surveying for a road. The little ma.n told me that it was Joseph Maransanl and Eugene Mangil-e surveying for a four lane highway to Capaldo and Radley. I heard Joe say he was tired of the dirt roads. After this, the little man turned to me and said, and now it's time to go. Your class has done exceptionally well. W-e're proud of you. Good night, and good luck to all of you. The little man then disappeared, leaving me very happy and well pleased.
